About the Earth Saver Alpaca Dryer Balls - These are Different!
These specially made dryer balls are from Brenda H., an alpaca farmer on the East coast of the USA. Brenda has a unique technique for making her dryer balls with is much faster and much less expensive than the time consuming way most others use. Many farms have tried to make dryer balls only to find out the process is slow and time consuming, and give up after some time. Brenda puts out a LOT of dyer balls with her proprietary approach by using leftover fibers from a local mill which would normally simply go to waste.

Notes from Brenda about here approach for producing alpaca dryer balls:
Each ball is approx. 2-3 inches across, 4-6 inches in circumference, approx. size of a tennis ball The soft 100% alpaca fiber is used with these guys giving you the ultimate benefit of softness, absorbency, and freedom from static cling and wrinkles. Nylons are used to form the balls, leaving behind a "belly button" hole from where the knot is cut off. It does not hinder the use or quality of the ball. The balls also look "fuzzier" than wet felted balls, but this quickly disappears with use and does not impact the effectiveness of the dryer balls.
I don't like using dyed fiber, but once again, I use what is sent off the carder or dehairer. I try to hide the colored fiber in the middle but it can sneak out why being washed. I've found that some alpaca folk want strictly all natural and might not like to see nylons or dyed fiber. Honestly it does nothing to hinder their use. If anything, the nylon keeps them together and last longer. If the dyed fiber is going to bleed, it'll do it while I'm making them and already gone through a wash and dry cycle, no longer going to bleed.
